I started making Pico about six years ago when  I started eating healthier. I have always eaten healthily but I wanted to add more fruits and vegetables to my daily intake. At first, it was just something extra to have when I made tacos or nachos and now it is a must-have favorite that I eat a few times a week. I usually have it with Breakfast Tacos or mixed in homemade guacamole. Really,  pico goes with almost everything! The love and passion that I have for cooking makes this the best homemade pico de gallo recipe.

I always start my homemade pico de gallo with organic fresh ripe tomatoes, white and red onion, jalapenos, and cilantro. One day I will be making my pico from my garden.  What I have found is that tomatoes and cilantro have a lot of pesticides on them, so before I start, I always make sure I wash all my produce in special water that cleans all the contaminants off. Leaves me feeling good that what I'm eating is pesticide-free and really good, making this the best fresh pico de gallo recipe.

What You Need To Make Homemade Pico De Gallo

While you can make pico by hand by chopping everything with a knife, I found a vegetable cutter that makes dicing all the vegetables quick and easy and actually now I make a bigger batch in less time. The Fullstar Vegetable Chopper/Spiralizer definitely saves me time in the kitchen and really does make this the best homemade pico de gallo as all the vegetables are diced the same size for extra yumminess.

I always try to use organic Veggies in all my recipes as long as they are available.

  • Vine Ripe Tomatoes
  • White Onion
  • Red Onion
  • Jalapenos
